The Monsanto "Protection Act" was signed into law on Tuesday against the backdrop of the hundreds of thousands of petitioners against it.
It was "hidden" in the 269 page "Spending Bill" that was just signed on Tuesday by the President.

Senate Passes Monsanto Protection Act Despite Outcry
It is a lobbyist-created recurring nuisance that has been squashed in previous legislation thanks to outcry from not only grassroots but major organizations. Last time we saw The Center for Food Safety, the National Family Farm Coalition, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the Sierra Club, and the Union of Concerned Scientists all come out against the Monsanto Protection Act from the 2012 Farm Bill.
This time we didn't see it coming and have lost.
Monsanto's henchmen in Congress had put this exact "rider" in last years "Farm Bill".
We fought against it then only to be betrayed yet again. Echoes of "pass the bill", "pass the bill" comes to mind. Remember Pelosi defended her words on the ACA by saying:
You’ve heard about the controversies within the bill, the process about the bill, one or the other. But I don’t know if you have heard that it is legislation for the future, not just about health care for America, but about a healthier America, where preventive care is not something that you have to pay a deductible for or out of pocket. Prevention, prevention, prevention—it’s about diet, not diabetes. It’s going to be very, very exciting.
Well, how do we get a "healthier America" with GMO's again??? If Monsanto's products were actually safe there wouldn't be a need to shred the constitution to grant them immunity, right?
To address those of you that believe the spending bill had to be passed, I disagree. Why? Because the products Monsanto creates today will destroy this planet's natural biodiversity that took millions of years of evolutionary progress. It's not only a crime against humanity, it's a crime against Nature.
Sure the spending bill has some great things in it like SNAP spending, etc. But when we have no choice but to feed our children dangerous unproven products how's that going help them?
This is pure criminal insanity.
So, when do we get those "more and better Democrats" again?
When?
What did any of us expect when President Obama appointed Michael Taylor, the on again, off again, Attorney and Vice President of Monsanto as a "deputy commissioner for the FDA"?
When Taylor’s appointment was announced, it was criticized by consumers and consumer advocates across the U.S. One such critical consumer advocate, Jeffrey Smith, who campaigns against genetically modified foods, wrote on his blog at the time: “The person who may be responsible for more food-related illness and death than anyone in history has just been made the US food safety czar. This is no joke.”
Thanks to Wikileaks and
this Democracy Now expose, we found out that the Bush Administration drew up plans to retaliate against European countries that refused to use GMO Seeds:
U.S. diplomatic cables released by WikiLeaks reveal the Bush administration drew up ways to retaliate against Europe for refusing to use genetically modified seeds.
We also found out that the contamination is permanent and that Governor Vilsak, appointed by Obama as the USDA Secretary ignored it's own scientific data:
They released today the environmental impact statement for alfalfa, where they ignore their own data regarding the increase of pesticides because of GMOs. They ignore the data of their own scientists and other scientists, which show the use of Roundup, which will be promoted through this Roundup Ready alfalfa, is actually very toxic both for the environment and for human health. And so, he, as well as many others of the Obama administration, have been taken essentially from the biotech ranks and are now calling the shots there.
-cut-
There was some indication in the EIS, however, for the alfalfa that he might take into consideration concerns about contamination, which we all know is permanent, where the self-propagating genetic pollution of genetically modified foods can outlast the effects of global warming and nuclear waste. It’s being released now without — with very little concern.
READ that again! The effects of GMO crops can outlast even nuclear waste!
Remember the GMO labeling fight in California? I do.
Lies, Dirty Tricks and $45 Million Kill GMO Labeling in California
Lying in the California voter guide: The "No" campaign listed four organizations in the official state document mailed to voters as concluding that "biotech foods are safe."
Misuse of a federal seal and quoting the Food and Drug Administration: This one caused even my jaded draw to drop. In a mailer sent to California voters, the "No" campaign printed the following text along side the FDA logo: "The US Food and Drug Administration says a labeling policy like Prop 37 would be "inherently misleading."
Misrepresenting academic affiliation: More than once, the "No" campaign gave the false impression that its go-to expert Henry Miller was a professor at Stanford University, in violation the school's own policy.
Deploying unfounded scare tactics: I fully expected the "No" side to use distracting arguments to scare voters while ignoring the merits of issue. But it took this common industry strategy to new heights, making wild claims about higher food prices, "shakedown lawsuits," and "special interest exemptions."
Additional lies and dirty tricks: 1) claiming the San Francisco Examiner recommended a "no" vote when in fact the paper endorsed "yes"; 2) putting up doctors and academic experts on the dole from Big Biotech as spokespeople without disclosing the conflict of interest; 3) securing a major science group's endorsement just two weeks before Election Day; 4) somehow convincing every major California newspaper to endorse a "no" vote, often with the very same industry talking points; and 5) placing ads in deceptive mailers that looked like they came from the Democratic party, cops, and green groups.
Were they prosecuted for their lies AND criminal acts? No!
I'll ask one last time:
When do we get "more and better Democrats"?
FYI, I'm publishing this now because I'm just so angry at all of this, I have to work this morning and will not be able to respond until after work tonight.
Please help stop this insanity:

It's probably too late but our very future depends on us getting this Monsanto Protection Act repealed.
