This will be short and ranty.
The media has been gushing about how the new pope washed a Muslim woman's feet. My friends are posting the story on Facebook as if this is some major move forward for the Catholic church. I just have to say, I'm not impressed.
Who says this Muslim woman wanted some strange guy touching her feet? I sure wouldn't. Did she have a choice in the matter?
This is a Christian tradition specifically linked to Jesus Christ. To me, it just feels like the Catholic church is forcing their beliefs on a woman who can't even refuse or fight back because, as a foreign prisoner, she has limited rights.
How is that progress?
