Rush Limbaugh has discovered he and his conservative lamprey have 'lost America because medical students (!) petitioned their university to not have Ben Carson as commencement speaker.
“Medical students! Not social workers, medical students,” Limbaugh said, in a clip posted by Media Matters. “To me that’s evidence that … I don’t know what it is. We’re losing the country or what have you.”
Rush and conservatives ARE losing the country, but Rush is right for all the wrong reasons, which I find comedically appropriate.
The Bombasitic One continueth:
Talking Points Memo reported that, according to a transcript of his show, the outcry against Carson signaled the beginning of mob rule.
“In the midst of all this talk about ‘equality,’ folks, in the midst of all this talk about the pursuit of happiness and equality, Dr. Benjamin Carson — who is the epitome of grace, by the way — is not allowed to voice his opinion,” Limbaugh said. “Which is a formally mainstream position, by the way. He’s not allowed to do that without being punished. The First Amendment applies to vile, hateful people, but not to a thoughtful, brilliant surgeon.”
The First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Yes Rush, the First Amendment applies to "vile hateful people". This is what protects you and the entire conservative hate media.
If I talked about the 2nd Amendment like Rush talks about the First....
Anyway....Dr. Carson has become quite a conservative hero who
blazed like a comet across the media sky,
by criticizing Obamacare at a prayer breakfast just a few feet from the President. Conservatives get all goosebumpy by these sorts of stunts: "You Lie!", Jan Brewer's finger in the President's face, Benghaaaaaaazzzziiiii1: these get them fired up.
Being a 'brilliant neurosurgeon' means you are brilliant in neurosurgery. It doesn't mean you are brilliant at everything nor that you may have astute political insights. And if you are regurgitating GOP talking points then you are not demonstrating any sort of brilliance or insight - you're just a mouthpiece. Or a tool.
The "medical students" at John Hopkins University (only one of the most renown medical schools/institutions) apparently think something in Dr. Carson's message isn't acceptable and have asserted themselves via 'the rules'.
Now that Rush realizes he and his hordes have 'lost America' he can just STFU.
