The Arkansas House voted 56-33-1 to override Gov. Beebe's veto of SB134. The new law requires a state-mandated ultrasound to detect a heartbeat before an abortion can be performed. If a heartbeat is detected (typically 12 weeks), the doctor cannot perform an abortion. This is the central battlefield of the War on Women.
I read the diary yesterday with comments asking women to leave Arkansas. It is a wonderful thing to say and to make yourself feel better and not really do anything else. We understand that people who read liberal blogs every day think that the hillbillies can just up and at 'em out of the state when something like this happens. That sort of commentary doesn't help.
I still believe in Governor Dean's 50-state strategy. You all need us. Y'all need to win us back.
So instead of trying to externally cite a riot, why not come visit? Why not come help us out? The Koch brothers fueled the last election. Both the House and the Senate are over 50% Republican for the first time since reconstruction. They're making up for it. Churches and Tea Parties worked together to get where we are now.
You should move here and help us out. We are trying to organize. We are trying to put those structures in place. We are trying to become more savvy about social media. We are trying to attract jobs for educated people, and not just frackers and roughnecks, but we need your help.
If you aren't ready to move, please donate
Planned Parenthood Voters of Arkansas

They canvassed the bill's sponsor, State Sen. Jason Rapert, district last weekend and are building support in gerrymandered districts, and mobilizing the youth vote. They're doing good work.

They will be defending the law when/if the Arkansas house overrides the veto.
We will also need your help to win back the State House and Senate, and a new governor will be elected next year too. If you have any other helpful suggestions, please let us know.
