What was his name again? I can't seem to recall the name of the President of the United States that tried to appoint Elizabeth Warren to regulate banks as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Obviously it would have to be a strongly progressive President who wanted to hold the banks accountable and protect the American consumer from the insatiable greed of large financial institutions. The name just won't come to me for some reason - it's on the tip of my tongue, but I just can't seem to reach it....oh, wait, noooo, it can't be! It...just...can't...be!
I must be remembering this wrong, since we are informed that...
The major difference between (18+ / 1-)
Barry Goldwater and Barack Goldmansachs is that the former never pretended to be a Democrat.

But then we're informed that...
Why do you think Warren's on her way to being a folk hero?

And...
Elizabeth Warren is one of the few people in D.C. that I admire.

Gosh, I sure do agree that she's an impressive figure. But Barack Obama, who is an evil neo-liberal corporatist banker stooge, tried to appoint her to run the CFPB, so she must actually be a neo-liberal corporatist banker stooge herself. But she doesn't talk like one as a Senator, and didn't run like one as a candidate, and her record seems like someone who would have done the job well, so...no...it can't be, can it? Can it be that Barack Obama is a progressive? Of course not! He's a neo-liberal. A NEEEEEEEo-LiBruL! But....he tried to appoint Warren. Warren's not a neo-liberal. But Obama is. He must be. MUST be! Right? But...I...I.....TILT TILT TILT...
6:18 AM PT: A commenter has made an important distinction: The President never actually nominated Elizabeth Warren to run the CFPB - he merely chose her to create it. Because that's what corrupt neo-liberal plutocracy stooges often do. Hell, the Reagan administration must have been crawling with progressive Harvard professors.
