Good morning!
This is the weekly DKos Asheville open thread series that randallt and I try to deliver every Saturday morning. We would like this series to reinvigorate us locally and regionally here on Daily Kos, building on the sense of community that's grown through our online engagement. DKos Asheville can give us all a better sense of connection, a better understanding of who these people are that we stand with, work with, and share with in the political process. We hope, through this community, that we can do a better job of leveraging our orange passion for progressive politics to help elect more and better Democrats.
The meetup was wonderful. Well, except for the sunburn. The setting was nice; sitting beside the French Broad River seems always to sooth one's being a bit. And the food was great. And the people, our group, absolutely wonderful. It was a pleasure spending the afternoon with you all.
If you missed it, gulfgal98 published a great diary about the meetup here with lots of cool pictures.
Steelergrrl also posted her take on the event here, with further details about the shirts.
Navaho also gave us a mention in her New Day diary here, which includes a listing of attendees.
And after much discussion and the testimony of expert witnesses, it was decided that we should endeavor to hold similar events on a quarterly basis, which would put the next meetup sometime in July, when it will presumably be a little warmer. I'm hoping to remember to bring a hat.
There was also some discussion about doing less elaborate get-togethers on perhaps a little more frequent basis, though nothing much was decided beyond that, though I do recall that there was mention of brew-pubs.
Today, I'm planning to head out to LamontCranston's open farm day, though the forecast is for rain followed by continued rain throughout the day. I'll try to remember to bring a hat. Oh, and the website said no flipflops.
Let us know what you're doing, or what you're thinking about, or what you think we should know about.
And thanks again everyone for a wonderful meetup!
Enjoy your Saturday.
