U.S. Senator Kay Hagan will hold a Twitter town hall on April 9, at 10:15 a.m. to have a conversation with North Carolinians about key issues veterans face.
Hagan, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and Chair of the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, is proud to represent the most military-friendly state in the country, and she continues to seek new ways to listen to the concerns of veterans and military families in North Carolina.
Starting today, anyone following @SenatorHagan on Twitter can begin submitting questions about veterans’ issues by including #AskKay with their tweet.
“I hope to engage as many North Carolinians as possible in a Twitter Town Hall discussion about veterans and military family issues,” said Hagan. “This will be both an opportunity to answer questions people have for me and a chance for me to hear firsthand about how we can improve circumstances for veterans, servicemembers and their families.”
Hagan has also added a new tool on the front page of her Senate web site to help veterans access eBenefits. The badge links to the eBenefits web site, which gives veterans quick access to information about their benefits and an easier way to apply for those benefits. - yadkinripple.com, 4/4/13
Senator Hagan's Press Secretary, Chris Moyer, explains why Hagan is such an avid Twitter user to reach out to constituents:

“Senator Hagan uses Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube on a regular basis,” Moyer says. “These channels allow Senator Hagan to communicate directly with North Carolinians and to provide them with exclusive content and behind-the-scenes photos, videos or insights that cannot be found anywhere else.”
Hagan’s office also breaks news via Twitter, he says, such as how she would vote on the nomination of Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
But the overall strategy, he says, can be applied outside of politics.
“The key for each of the social media platforms is posting interesting content that followers can’t find anywhere else,” Moyer explains.
For Hagan, it’s a photo of a meeting with constituents or a behind-the-scenes look at her office.
“This is content that you might not see in the local newspaper or on the evening news,” he adds. - Triangle Business Journal, 4/3/13
