Greetings, orangelings. After the long, sunny weekend, it's back to work. Boo! Oh, wait ... is kos reading this? I mean, yay! Work is the best thing ever!
As the executive assistant at Daily Kos, part of my job is manning the Daily Kos Facebook page along with Jen Hayden, the artist formerly known as Scout Finch. And guess what? We're pretty excited because we're going to pass that 100,000-fans-threshold soon. Like maybe even today. This is serious, people. The virtual champagne will be popped. Cyber confetti will fly.
Last week we also worked on getting our Daily Kos Tumblr up and running. So for those of you who are Tumblrers, who like to Tumbl, check out our new in-the-works page.
Also, along with the top 20 from Facebook and top 10 from Twitter, I'm including the top 5 hits from Reddit this week as well. This was a good week for Reddit shares—it ended up pulling ahead of Twitter as our #2 social networking referrer for the week.
Below the tangerine squiggly you'll find which stories were the biggest traffic-drivers via Facebook, Twitter and now Reddit last week (Monday 5/20 through Sunday 5/26).
Just like last week, 12 out of 20 of the biggest traffic-drivers from Facebook were stories produced by the community. Well done! The stories by front pagers or staff are highlighted in orange. Hunter and Jen Hayden both hit doubles this week.
As for Twitter, 6 out of 10 were staff/ front page content (also highlighted in orange). One (#4) was written by featured writer Laurence Lewis in February 2012(!). It's interesting when stories make the rounds again via social networking. And some dude named "kos" made the list thrice.
Lastly, we have the top 5 hits from Reddit. Only one of these was staff/ front page content. Fist bump.
And there you have it.
Please keep in mind that sharing stories via whatever social network you prefer—Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, yellow post-it notes, singing telegrams—is just another way of supporting your fellow community members beyond the tips and recs.
You can fan Daily Kos, retweet Daily Kos and follow Daily Kos too.
As always, thanks for creating such awesome content. Y'all rock.
