Everyone in the house was like "What is that awful beeping noise?" and I proudly said, "That is our new weather radio!"
And now there is thunder rumbling outside. The digital display is scrolling SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING and a voice read this aloud after the alarm sounded.
Thank you Weatherdude! At your recommendation, I purchased a Midland WR 120 Weather Radio. Only about 2 years after you recommended it, but better late than never. I ordered it after the Moore OK Tornadoes, and it sat for a few days in its box before I finally took knife-to-tape and liberated it.
Luckily my sharp-eyed, nimble-fingered, electronics-savvy daughter is home from college and I told her, "set this thing up!" And she did. The only thing I had to do was put in batteries so we can unplug it later.
Of course, I don't really want an alarm for every thunderstorm that rolls through town, so now I have to wade through the manual to refine what will alert and the SAME codes I want to focus on.
But cool! Within a few hours of setup, the weather radio has proven its worth.
