The first listing for this saying is this: It means that an intelligent person who does stupid things is still stupid. You are what you do.
As a loyal Democratic voter since 1980, I am beginning to believe that the Democratic PARTY is just plain stupid! At least that’s what their actions seem to indicate.
I don’t think very highly of the GOP either but at least they appear to have a plan. Their plan is to just say NO to EVERYTHING the POTUS does. They announced that plan in 2009 and have done nothing to indicate they have any intention to change.
Now I can understand why POTUS Obama continues to cave into them even when he has nothing to lose by standing up to them. He would like his legacy to be more than being the first African American POTUS and the author of Obamacare.
But what I don’t understand is why the Democratic PARTY, particularly Congressional Democrats, are so eager to follow. They have EVERYTHING to lose.
I understand the need for additional tax revenue. However, I don’t understand how this internet sales tax is going to make a difference. The idea that GOP is going along with it, should give them a clue how bad of an idea it is. We can’t raise taxes on millionaires, but we can raise taxes on everybody else? We have the lowest corporate tax rate in 60 years but we are going to impose sales tax regulations on mom and pop businesses struggling to find new markets so they can survive?
We won’t make drug dealers pay their fair share of taxes but we can impede the growth of legitimate new businesses by taxing their products?
This internet sales tax bill is stupid and will not help the economy grow! Remember, it’s the economy, stupid? Democrats should let it die NOW before it affects the 2014 election. If they don’t drop it in the Senate and they allow the GOP to kill it in the House, the GOP will use it as an issue in the 2014 election. This will essentially kill any hope of Democratic gains in either the House or the Senate in 2014. Why? Because the gun nuts will support the GOP and the small business people will support the GOP by either not voting or voting for those who kept the internet sales tax from being forced upon America by the tax crazy Democrats.
BTW, I don’t believe the GOP rhetoric but I know American voters well enough to say this with some confidence. I’d also like to point out that small business owners make up one of the largest blocks of independent voters and they are not particularly happy with Obamacare in the first place. Since by the 2014 election cycle, the Affordable Care Act will be in full implementation, is it smart to make matters worse?
Look, if Congress is really serious about additional tax revenues, they should just vote to remove marijuana from the Controlled Substance Act and start taxing drug dealers. That would raise more money for the government both federal and state than this sales tax. Plus, I’d like to see ANYONE defend increasing taxes on drug dealers. Really? I think it would be a riot to see Ted Cruz or Marco Rubio explain and DEFEND not raising taxes on drug dealers.
