I'll be writing about this story very soon:

Another South Dakotan says he wants to be the Republican contender for 2014’s open U.S. Senate seat. State Senator and Majority Whip Larry Rhoden is running in the Republican primary. Rhoden believes he has qualities to be successful on the national level.
Larry Rhoden challenges former South Dakota Governor Mike Rounds in the race for the U.S. Senate seat. Wednesday, Rhoden made his announcement official at Falls Park in Sioux Falls. Rhoden says there are problems in federal government that need repair.
"I believe that we can all probably agree that Washington D.C. is headed in the wrong direction and is putting our children’s future in jeopardy. The 17 trillion dollar question is, what do we do to fix it," Rhoden says. - South Dakota Public Broadcasting, 7/10/13
But I wanted to get this info out to the South Dakota Kossacks and those that are interested in Rick Weiland's (D. SD) U.S. Senate campaign:
http://www.kdlt.com/...
After Republican Larry Rhoden announced he's joining the race for the United States Senate, Democrat Rick Weiland is preparing for a 100 city tour of South Dakota.
Weiland, the only Democrat in the race, says he's been busy with the logistics of organizing the 3 month tour.
“I believe our efforts to talk about big money and their influence is going to resonate with reasonable Republicans, Independents and Democrats. I feel really good about where we are right now, said Weiland. - KDLT News, 6/11/13
This is good to hear because it's going to give Weiland the chance to build his name recognition and listen to South Dakota voters. Here are a few upcoming Town Hall dates next week if you want to hear Weiland speak:

Also Weiland has been keeping up with his populist theme of getting big money out of politics:
http://www.ksfy.com/...
In his statements to the media, Thursday, the Sioux Falls small businessman and Madison native said he's proud to have been out-raised by his republican opponent Mike Rounds.
Since his announcement in May, Weiland has raised $105,000 in the first seven weeks of his campaign.
His ''Take it Back'' campaign on his charge that big money special interests have taken over Congress.
"I think South Dakotans want to talk to people that represent them and not have to watch a bunch of political ads that have been paid for by big money, special interests and out of state donors," Senate candidate Rick Weiland said. - KSFY 7/11/13
Mike Rounds (R) is vowing to raise $9 million in campaign funds and is welcoming Super PACs to donate to his campaign. Weiland on the hand has vowed to make reversing Citizens United his number one priority in the U.S. Senate. Weiland might be an underdog but his campaign is worth supporting and with Rhoden in the race, it should get interesting. If you would like to get involved with Weiland's campaign, you can do so here:
