How long will the lack of justice in America go on before resentment boils over. The Zimmerman verdict is no surprise. It is just another example of the outrageous inequality built into our legal system
Zimmerman was brought to trial only after vocal protest, but he was at least brought to trial. Perhaps because he is a member of the "underclass" in America as was his victim. African Americans are just a little lower on the scales of justice. Should the crimes of the Bush administration have been investigated or prosecuted? That went nowhere. Enron execs get an early out, but a long sentence for drug possession will never be reviewed for a poor person.
How many banksters faced the possibility of prosecution after they looted the World's coffers? Oh that's right, NONE. Citizens United? Everyone reading this can find and cite numerous examples of the imbalance in our justice system. Even if you only read the tabloids, ask yourself, if after numerous DUI arrests, you would receive the same treatment in court as Lindsey Lohan,.
The Occupy movement sought to focus attention on the travesty taking place in our courts everyday. They were ignored by the media and after a couple of skirmishes with police, they all but disappeared.
For the most part, those outraged by another black person being spit out by our justice system, have protested peacefully. How much longer? How much more can people take before they get up off the couch and take to the streets? How long will it take for the white working class people to realize that they have the same opportunity for justice when they are oppressed by the wealthy as a black person has when they are facing "white" justice. There will be no peace if this injustice continues.
