... and naturally
the media is all ears:
Sen. Lindsey Graham said on Wednesday that the United States should weigh boycotting the 2014 Winter Olympics over Russia’s conduct around the world, including the country’s handling of NSA leaker Edward Snowden.
Why consider a boycott? Partly because Edward Snowden is a treasonous traitor ...
If they give asylum to a person who I believe has committed treason against the United States, that’s taking it to a new level.
... but also because Hitler (of course):
If you could go back in time, would you have allowed Adolf Hitler to host the Olympics in Germany?
Then again, said Lindsey, Russia isn't Nazi Germany. (Phew!) But still, he said, it's something to think about. Because Hitler was evil. (Yes, he was, but Putin isn't Hitler.)
Graham did appear to be on his own with his musings. Even House Speaker John Boehner brushed aside Graham's idea:
“I love Sen. Graham, we’ve been close friends for 20 years,” Boehner said. “But I think he’s dead wrong.”
Boehner was careful to call Snowden a traitor, but said he wouldn't want to punish American athletes as a result. Bottom line, it was pretty clear by the time Boehner opened his mouth that Graham's thought-bubble was going nowhere.
Nonetheless, the "issue" wasn't dead, at least not for the White House press corps ...
oh god, third question for carney on possible olympic boycott

... proving once again, that every Lindsey Graham brain fart is treated like "news," no matter how dumb it may be.
