Former White House Press Secretary (and
national co-chair of the Not-Exactly Mensa Society) Dana Perino
is outraged that President Obama dared talk about the killing of Trayvon Martin:
“Also when a president speaks, it’s to multiple audiences,” she added. “If you think of the young mother whose 2-year-old son was shot in the face by the two black teens that approached her in Atlanta and that baby had died, why do presidents choose to speak about one case and not the other? That’s why it’s better maybe not to talk about any of them.”
That's pretty much the most clueless non-sequitor you could imagine and David Edwards
supplies the best translation:
Dana Perino: Where’s Obama speech on blacks shooting white babies in the face?
Of course, as Edwards notes, in that case the alleged killers were arrested and charged almost immediately. Moreover, only a moron like Dana Perino could listen to
what President Obama said about Trayvon Martin's killing and its aftermath as some sort of excuse for the crime cited by Perino.
The one piece of good news is that not all Republican operatives have responded as idiotically as Perino. John McCain, for example, said he agrees with President Obama that we need to review Stand Your Ground laws. And given that the big difference between John McCain and Barack Obama is that McCain isn't president, maybe Perino won't tell him to shut up.
