If you love District 9 and Matt Damon action movies and you give a damn about health care and immigration, then take your friends and family who are on the fence on these issues to see Elysium and maybe they will finally get it.
I went to see this today with my wife Melissa and my brother Andre'. It's Andre's birthday today, he turned forty two, and he loves sci fi, so, we all went to see it together today. It was a fantastic movie. It doesn't quite reach the heights of District 9, but it's easily the best movie of the summer. By a long ways.
I don't want to spoil it for you, so, I won't tell you about the story, but I'll just say that it's basically Sicko told as a sci fi action movie instead of a documentary. Well, Sicko and a documentary about immigration if Michael Moore had done one of those. I chocked up at the end of the movie.
You can't go wrong watching this movie. Well, you probably shouldn't bring your little kids, because it does have some pretty graphic violence. It's not as gory as District 9, but it has it's moments. Especially when the endoskeleton is surgically grafted onto Matt Damon. Which is really cool by the way.
