I noticed, when opening DK yesterday, a petition to counter the GOP's lies concerning the ACA (Obamacare). To that end I have a proposal that I feel will go a long way to pour cold water on their lies.
In 1992 a short, big eared, curmudgeon from Texas, Ross Perot, - candidate for POTUS - bought 1/2 hour of prime time TV. In that half hour, using charts and graphs on an easel, he explained, in his quintessential Texas twang, the state of US finance. Despite the simple format and yawn inducing subject matter, he garnered a large viewership and went from a 3rd party fringe candidate to a serious contender for the POTUS.
More beyond the Kosquiggle..
Perot didn't win a single state but he ate up a large slice of Poppy Bush's pie and put Clinton in the WH.
Considering the current state of TV, computer technology and CG animation two decades after Perot, coupled with the Democrat's strong bonds to Hollywood, why can't an hour long, well written, high tech production with well known narrators be assembled ? The primary thrust would be toward explaining ACA to the US population, a significant percentage who at this point in time don't have a brown pig's idea how they will benefit. If it's presented in an entertaining but informative way it would go a long way to counter the GOP's demonetization of the act (their battle cry for 2014) and have the electorate to think twice on the honesty of the GOP. ( thinking just once should be sufficient)
IMO, it would be far more effective than 100's of 30 second, no information, spot ads that the electorate grows to despise and then filter out.
The Democrats have to expose the underlying motives and outright lies of the GOP noise machine and do so in unambiguous, straight forward, informative language and visuals. It should be nationally distributed through the MSM and then through Youtube and other web sites .
The lunatic wing of the GOP is a rot on American society that needs to be excised before the rot's stench spreads any further.
