Interesting facts from a New Yorker story from a couple of weeks ago: military and security people are not allowed to vote in Egypt (back to 1923) on the theory they're supposed to be impartial. There are 2 million military and security people in Egypt, and Mr. Morsi won by less than 1 million votes. Kind of makes more sense out of what's been happening recently. But to extrapolate, we have 1.5 million active military personnel, add in police, FBI, CIA and we'd probably hit 2 million. If they weren't allowed to vote, the Senate would be 75/25 Democratic, the House would be 300 plus Democratic, the last two Presidential elections would have been bigger landslides than they were, and forget about 2000;)
