A thoughtful blog piece by Jelani Cobb in the New Yorker that points out that many of the civil rights pioneers who will be celebrated on Wednesday were subjected to the kind of surveillance that Obama's administration apparently wants to establish as a norm. They didn't climb to the mountain top to achieve a panoptic overview of everyone else.
