You don't mess with the Issa! I'm a lean, mean, fundraising machine!
Boy, you'd think that with the headlines Darrell Issa has raised this year and last year with his role as House Oversight & Government Reform Committee Chairman that Senor Issa himself would be the last Republican York and Franklin County Republican parties of Pennsylvania would bring to do fundraising.

While 2013 may not be a congressional election year it’s never a bad time to raise money. That’s the attitude anyway of the York and Franklin County Republican parties. They are bringing in California Congressman Darrell Issa to fundraise for them this October.
However, never underestimate the power of Congressman Issa. After all, Issa himself is a beneficiary of over $400,000 in campaign contributions as of recently as a result of his IRS "investigation." Just check out my diary on this:
http://www.dailykos.com/...
Anyway, here's more detail on both dinners Issa will be attending at York County and Franklin County:
http://www.politicspa.com/...
The York County Republican Committee dinner will be held first on Thursday October 3rd. The event will be at the Valencia Ballroom on North George Street. Attendees must pay $75 per person to get in although committee members will get a discount and only need $65. A “premium table”, however, will run you $800 for the ten-seat table.
Congressman Issa will also be the keynote speaker at the annual Franklin County Republican Party Eisenhower Day Dinner. The dinner will be held on Oct. 30th at the Green Grove Gardens Events Center in Greencastle. Dinner tickets will be $50 while a table of eight will cost $400. There will also be a pre-dinner reception with Rep. Issa and those proceeds will go towards the charity group “Homes for Our Troops”.
Ok so let me get this straight: Just the pre-dinner reception proceeds will go towards the "Homes for Our Troops" charity, not all the ticket revenue?
Got it. Well, I guess fund raising for the Republican parties is more important than supporting the troops. After all, the Franklin County and York County Republican Parties aren't aware of where Issa stands on supporting the troops. Well, maybe they are but they just love him because he brings in the cash.
Here's where Issa has been an absolutely FANTASTIC Congressman with regards to the U.S. Troops:
http://www.ontheissues.org/...
http://votesmart.org/...
Voted NO on removing US armed forces from Afghanistan. (Mar 2011)
Voted NO on redeploying US troops out of Iraq starting in 90 days. (May 2007)
Voted YES on declaring Iraq part of War on Terror with no exit date. (Jun 2006)
Voted YES on approving removal of Saddam & valiant service of US troops. (Mar 2004)
Voted YES on authorizing military force in Iraq. (Oct 2002)
Voted Yea (Passage) - HR 3087 - Requiring Reports from the Defense Department to Congress Regarding Withdrawal from Iraq
Voted Nay (Passage) - HR 2956 - Redeployment from Iraq Act
Voted Yea (Passage) - H Res 557 - War in Iraq Anniversary Resolution
Voted Nay (Amendment Vote) - H Amdt 672 - Repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" After Military Review and Certification
Voted Nay (Passage) - HR 3159 - Mandatory Troop Rest Periods Between Deployments to Iraq
Yeah, seriously, Issa REALLY cares about the troops when he votes against a bill that asks for mandatory rest periods between deployments to Iraq but he's willing to be apart of a pre-dinner reception where proceeds go to supporting the troops?
*head bangs on the table* I don't get this Issa man.
Maybe the Franklin and York Republican Parties are aware of Issa's March 8, 2007 statement on the Iraq Pull-Out Plan. Clearly he does support the troops here:
http://issa.house.gov/...
Congressman Darrell Issa, today, made the following statement on the plan announced by the Democratic House Leadership to set conditions for a continued military deployment in Iraq and a deadline for withdrawal:
"As the representative of Marines who have fought with extraordinary valor in Iraq, someone who has criticized the mistakes made by this Administration in Iraq, and a supporter of a broader diplomatic engagement throughout the Middle East, I am adamantly opposed to this plan for defeat," said Issa. "The Democratic Leadership have outlined a set of meet-or-withdraw-goals for Iraq that will become a defacto battle plan for Al-Qaeda and other extremists. Our enemies will attempt to force our withdrawal and achieve victory by defeating the artificial goals set by this legislation."
"As the representative for Camp Pendleton who has fought to improve conditions on-base as well as improvements in healthcare for veterans, I find it incredibly offensive that Democrats would hold funding for real and immediate needs of military families and active duty personnel hostage by placing it in a measure that will clearly not be signed into law. It is a deplorable tactic that underscores the fact that Democrats recognize this bill is only for political purposes."
Anyway, moving back to the article. Franklin County Republican Party Chairman praised Rep. Bill Shuster of Pennsylvania's 9th Congressional District who as it turns out for making Congressman Warmonger Issa's appearance at the Franklin County Dinner a celebration:
In a press release, Franklin County Chairman Dwight Weldman praised Rep. Shuster (R-Blair) as the one responsible for putting the event together.
“Congressman Bill Shuster was instrumental in landing Darrell Issa as guest speaker for this year’s dinner,” the release stated. “Congressman Shuster continues to be very supportive of our efforts to build the party in Franklin County, and was very responsive to our requests for assistance.”
Just one problem: Congressman Shuster is getting a primary challenge by Tea Party Republican Art Halverson because of his support for House Speaker John Boehner and the following:
http://www.politicspa.com/...
Halvorson set up an exploratory committee in April, and spoke to a Blair County Tea Party rally shortly thereafter. At that time, Halvorson cited Shuster’s support of Speaker Boehner and his vote against an amendment that would have required spending cuts to offset Hurricane Sandy relief funding.
OUCH. Looks like Rep. Bill Shuster isn't that focused on his re-election campaign.
Or maybe it isn't so bad. If Darrell Issa was able to come to the fundraiser, because Issa is loved by the Tea Party for his Chairman role in the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee and a great fundraiser, he might just be able to convince Tea Party nuts to vote for Shuster instead! You NEVER know!
One can never understand what goes on in the Republican Party's mind these days.
If you can't stand to hear more of Darrell Issa's antics or anything Issa, keep the San Diego County Democratic Party busy since they're the most local and active Democratic Party nearby Darrell Issa's area of residence (not to mention his local office).
Make sure you mark down this information and pass it on to others for firing up the base in California's 49th Congressional District if you want to target Issa for re-election and get voter registration drives going. If you can find someone in the CA-49 who can run against Issa in 2014, the more the merrier:
