Playing to the base.
This will surely convince reluctant Republicans to
commit political suicide with a government shutdown.
Republican Sens. Ted Cruz of Texas, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Mike Lee of Utah), who have been leading calls in the Senate to defund the law in any spending bills, will headline the Sept. 10 Exempt America from Obamacare event, organized by Tea Party Patriots and ForAmerica, along with other conservative groups.
“Democrats will stop at nothing to protect the president’s signature legislation, and too many Republicans are afraid to fight,” rally organizers wrote.
Insulting your colleagues is always an effective way to get their support. "Hey you chickenshits! Join us!" And if that's not an attractive enough offer, Paul, Lee and Cruz can bring out their
newest recruit, because nothing says a winning political campaign like Sarah Palin.
“Those in the Senate and those seeking to serve there must stand strong against this devastating program before it reveals its true face now recognized by both sides of the aisle as the bureaucratic and economic beast that will deny our families, our businesses, and our sick the ability to access health care,” Palin says in the statement. “Join us in urging senators—Don’t fund Obamacare! Just remember: if you fund it, you own it!”
If you had any doubt that this grandstanding effort was all about 2016 and raising as much money as possible out of the teabagger rubes, the queen of grift joining in should erase it.
