I realize it's always a delicate balance for a President of the United States to both tell the hard truth and maintain the integrity of an office that's supposed to represent the entire country, but I think the time has come to take the gloves off and unmask the Republican Party in the starkest possible terms from the Oval Office. Their actions speak for themselves, but ultimately someone has to speak the actual words for it to register.
Hopefully in more eloquent and persuasive terms, I want the President to tell the American people this:
That the Republican Party is finally and completely without ethics and without loyalty to this country. That it represents no one in this country but the unpatriotic millionaires and billionaires who fund it, and are willing to harm America to any length for their own financial interests. That healthcare is a fundamental right of all human beings, and we have delayed long enough granting it in this country.
President Obama has kind of hinted at these ideas, attacking the GOP's attempts to "extract ransom," but these rhetorical flourishes need to be solidified into concrete statements of what is going on here: A part of the ultra-wealthy in this country no longer consider themselves Americans, no longer feel any obligation to the country that makes their lifestyle possible or the employees who create it, and have bought themselves an entire political party to serve them and them alone. This party is holding America hostage - not figuratively, but literally.
They are holding our children hostage. They are holding our veterans hostage. They are holding our schools, our roads, our jobs, everything we have hostage to squeeze one more dime out of us for the people who write their under-the-table checks. And they are doing it with a House majority the American people never elected, but which the GOP itself fabricated through naked gerrymandering. And we will not give in, because this is our country, these are our lives, these are our rights, and Republicans are just greedy, thieving animals with no conscience and no country but themselves. (Well, that last part the President should skip, but I wanted to say it myself).
