Those are RedState founder Erick Erickson's words of advice to the Congress this evening (posted at 6:15 PM - in whatever time zone they use). Go here for your reading enjoyment. The title of his piece, "House GOP: Stand Your Ground" doesn't indicate anything about passing a clean CR. To the contrary, it appears to advocate the opposite. It isn't until his closing paragraph that one gets his point: Either stand your ground like men, or give up now and recognize your failure.
Here are his opening lines:
This is just embarrassing. The House GOP has refused to fight on Obamacare. Right now they are going through an elaborate dance routine, complete with leotards and streamers, to show everyone they are really fighting for something.
They’ve gone through so many iterations, no one is really sure what it is they are fighting for, but it is for certain they are not fighting to defund Obamacare.
And the comments are just priceless:
AnnaD writes:
My opinion has always been, since the 2012 election, let it happen and let the thing collapse on itself. Only then will Democrats take the hit. They own O-care. if the shut down happens now, Republicans will lose big and we'll have Speaker Pelosi again in 2014.
And then we hear from jmorris42:
The worst possible outcome is a shutdown followed by a surrender. We take the hit for a shutdown AND the hit from our own side for surrender. So of course that is what we will do. We ain't the stupid party for nothing.
Well that's my allotment of three quotes. I leave it to your voyeuristic tendencies whether or not you actually go see it for yourself.
I especially appreciate and like jmorris42's quote. I hadn't even realized just how much of a win it could be until I read that.
But of course, we are Democrats and we do know how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
