Received this e-mail today from Iraq and Afghanistan war vetera Kevin Strouse (D. PA-08) who is challenging Tea Party Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick (R. PA-08) regarding unemployment insurance benefits:
Let's face it -- raising a family in this economy is tough -- and Congress' failure to extend long-term unemployment benefits and raise the minimum wage makes it even tougher.
With Teva and Lockheed Martin set to close their facilities in Bucks County, over 1,500 people in the 8th District will find themselves looking for work. Those who are lucky to still have jobs, but make minimum wage, are still struggling to meet the basic needs of their families.
The people of Bucks County and all Americans deserve better. They deserve to have full access to emergency jobless benefits so they can put food on the table while looking for jobs. Better yet, they deserve to be paid a fair, livable wage for a full day's work that will provide for their families without being forced into exhaustion.
It's time Congress does its job to help hard-working Americans by extending long-term jobless benefits and increasing the minimum wage. Will you join me in this fight?

I know how important it is to extend the federal jobless benefits and increase to the federal minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $10.10 per hour. All Pennsylvanians and Americans who are still struggling in this economy should have the chance to better support their families.
Tell Congress to do its job and pass these bills.
