Now, you're here, so the title isn't telling you anything you don't already know, right? But I recently had it brought home to me how much community matters for weight loss. I met a man at work the other day who I told about my weight loss and exercise. I remember that I said that I might not be able to compete against a twenty-year-old who was exercising as much as I was, and he said, "No, but you're competing against yourself."
He was absolutely right. That's what this is about for me. The fact that yes, I can walk over 10,000 steps five days a week and feel just fine. I can lift weights and stand up for all my work shifts and feel good. And yes, I can do this all now when I couldn't have two years ago.
Daily Kos Weight Loss is a community at Daily Kos dedicated to weight loss, maintenance, and support. As with all communities, trolls are calorie-free and will be munched should they engage with us. Please feel free to jump, jog, skip, dive, or walk in.
Sometimes you do have to go through something to understand it. That's the kind of support I hope we at Daily Kos Weight Loss can do for you. We have been there, where it was a struggle to just stand up sometimes. I know I've been exhausted to the bone from just basic grocery shopping, whereas now I keep going and actually put everything in its place, set up for future meals, and don't often think about the difference.
So how are you doing? Starting your plan? Need help with motivation? We may be able to help you, or if nothing else, nod as you talk and say, "I get it. I really do."
