UPDATE as of 3:45 Saturday afternoon 1/25: Sorry to say this, but we have only two (maybe three) responses to this call for a planning meeting. Given the horrible weather that is supposed to be upon us tomorrow, it's best IMO to cancel this meeting. But please Kosmail me if you are interested in panel planning, and we will see what we can do.
If you are interested in helping to contribute a strong metro Detroit flavor to the
Netroots Nation convention being held here in Detroit this July, please join us this coming Saturday for a working meeting. The agenda is to put together several panel proposals to submit to the selection committee by the 2/19 deadline, and we welcome all the local participation we can get. [Please check out the
panel submission guidelines HERE.] So if you have some ideas about Detroit-related or Michigan-related issues that really deserve an airing before a national audience of progressive activists, now is your chance!
What: NN14 Panel Proposal Preparation meeting
When: Sunday, January 26, 1:00-3:00 PM
Where: Southfield, on Southfield Road near 12 Mile (please Kosmail me for specific directions. It's in a private office, with cafes nearby.)
RSVP: to me, peregrine kate, via Kosmail
Two more IMPORTANT comments.
First, we owe this free meeting space to a NON-Kossack who is nevertheless willing to reach out to Motor City Kossacks and other local activists. Many thanks for her generosity!
Second,
we will CANCEL this meeting if we do not get some solid RSVPs by Saturday at noon. No point in dragging our host out if there are only two people coming, I have to say.
So, please look at your schedules, consult your Rolodex (virtual or otherwise), and think about the best damn panels you can think of to present Detroit in all its glory and misery.
Feel free to Kosmail me if you have other questions.
I should also add this: If you have expert knowledge related to Detroit and/or Michigan topics, but you can't make it to any of these workshops, please give a panel proposal a go. I can't obviously guarantee acceptance of anything, but I am a firm believer in a democratic process. IMHO, the more the merrier!
