We already knew Paul Ryan was a fool. But he did a really good job of proving it on today's edition of This Week. When he regurgitated what seems to be the wingnut party line--that Obama has become "lawless"--George Stephanopoulos pounced, asking whether he was calling for Obama's impeachment. Ryan then really stepped in it, saying he merely had a "difference of opinion" with the president. Watch here.
So one minute, Obama is acting like he's king rather than president--and the next minute, he's just doing something you don't agree with? Which is it, Paul? Never mind that Obama actually said that he was only going to act alone where the Constitution allowed him to do so.
We also got a good idea of what Ryan's definition of lawless rule is. He actually defended Chris Christie, saying that there was no reason he should resign either as chairman of the Republican Governors Association or as governor of New Jersey. Never mind that even if Christie is telling the truth, then he fostered a culture in his administration in which it was even remotely acceptable to deliberately put your own citizens in harm's way. If that isn't an atmosphere of lawlessness, I don't know what is.
I look at this, and I have to wonder--how in the world is this guy representing a district that is a swing district by any reasonable definition, let alone in a position where he was even being discussed as presidential material? Hopefully Rob Zerban can do us a favor and send him packing.
