Dick Cheney has thoughts about President Barack Obama and—surprise!—he's not a fan. Specifically, Cheney thinks, Obama "would rather spend the money on food stamps than he would on a strong military or support for our troops."
Interestingly enough, Dick, food stamps are a thing that supports our troops and our veterans, a population that by the way is pretty dramatically expanded thanks to you and George W. Bush, just as our economy and our government's revenues are weaker thanks to the two of you. But do please say more.
“I have not been a strong supporter of Barack Obama. But this really is over the top. It does enormous long-term damage to our military,” Cheney responded. He went on to say that the president has always wanted to downsize the military, and that the cuts would be “absolutely devastating.”
No! Dick Cheney, not a strong supporter of Barack Obama? But still, Dick Cheney wants us to believe, this is coming from a place of rational thought, not from reflexive opposition to anything and everything the president does or from a deep-seated desire to see the military always be growing, funneling money to defense contractors and always ready for the next time a Republican is elected and wants to drag the country into a pointless, deadly war or three.
Doubtless all the people who value Cheney's opinions while not being entirely sure what they think of Barack Obama are really glad for the guidance here. The rest of us will just have to try to contain our shock at a story that boils down to: "Dick Cheney snarls, criticizes Obama, calls for increased military spending and cuts to food stamps."
