WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and share advice, pootie pictures, favorite adult beverages, and anything else that we think might help. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
Turned 55 on Tuesday.
What does that mean?
Well, I can officially order from the "senior" menu at places like Denny's or Coco's -- smaller portions, lower prices. (Actually been doing that for a couple of years since Mr. Scribe hit double nickels.) But still a few years from getting the "senior" discount for movie tickets and such. Been eligible for AARP for 5 years (need to re-up on that). And hopefully we'll be getting a bit more money each month because Mr. Scribe's former employer should start kicking in a substantial amount for my medical coverage. Won't know for sure till towards the end of the month when we get the pension statement; been asking him to call and confirm but he's been procrastinating.
Other than that, well, not sure what to think about it.
Overall, it was decent. We were supposed to drive down to Watsonville for a memorial service on Sunday the 2nd, but it got rescheduled to the 16th. We kept our booking in Monterey though for a couple of night's getaway; decided we needed it. Unfortunately we got late starts the entire time so missed the Aquarium this time around, but I was able to get some photography in on the 17 Mile Drive on Monday (which we hadn't done in some time). Being back on my meds seems to be having a mild effect of getting my energy level back a bit -- I was in and out of the car quite a bit with my camera. (Still need to get the pictures off the camera though.) Came home a bit earlier than we would have liked Tuesday because mom-in-law needed Mr. Scribe to pick up some items. It only takes us a couple of hours or so to get down there (less if we drive straight through and don't stop for a snack in Gilroy), so we're thinking of going ahead and getting a membership...unfortunately we're still a few years away from that particular discount (they don't hit till 62, and both parties need to hit that magic number so we've got to wait 7 years for that savings.
Last night, finally had the actual birthday dinner -- got birthday money from mom-in-law, and Mr. Scribe got me a couple of gift cards. That's one indicator of the lack of time we seem to have for each other these days; usually he has more chance to go out and shop, and makes some great choices especially with earrings. I still have gift cards from Christmas I haven't used...so I guess I'll have to go out and shop myself one of these days.
Feeling a bit stuck for some reason -- sorry this hasn't been better.
So, WYFP tonight?
