At CPAC today Conservative African-American Darling, retired John's Hopkins Neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson - who is clearly so not like that Smug Obama with all his fancy Schooling and Edumacation at High-Falutin' Institutions like Harvard (Nope, Carson went to Yale) - has today proclaimed that he's had it with Liberal Lies about all the things he's been saying lately about Gays, Obama and Obamacare being like a) Bestiality, b) Hitler and c) Slavery - because of course - he never, ever said anything of the kind.
Carson wanted to set straight some “lies” progressives were telling about him. “I still believe that marriage is between a man and a woman,” said Carson, and when the applause died down continued, “and because I happen to mention that nobody gets to change the definition of marriage… progressives say I equate homosexuality and bestiality.” (They also say he apologized for saying whatever it was he said, but that can’t be true, since he said nothing offensive.)
Nor, Carson said, did he ever say “Obamacare and slavery are the same thing.” What he said, according to the Washington Post, was, “Obamacare is really I think the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery“; but what he really meant, Carson patiently explained, was that the government “has shifted the power that was given to us, it’s the most massive shift in power in America that has ever occurred,” which is not slavery. Also, Carson said, “In Germany people did not believe it what Hitler was doing and they didn’t speak up,” which was not the same thing as “progressives are Nazis” even though he was explicitly talking about Obama and America. Yet progressives “repeat these lies because they cannot argue the actual facts"
We progressives have to repeat lies because we "cannot argue the actual facts" you say? Ok, "Dr." - if that is your real name since we
shant assume - let's argue some "facts" in response to your claim that we simply like to
demonize you ...
Carson then accused progressives of “demonizing” conservatives.
Carson also said that some people were boycotting his supporters because they believed Carson was spreading “poison,” and he asked, we believe rhetorically, “I wonder what poison that would be? Would that be the poison of self-reliance and self-respect? Would that be…” Then he named a lot of other nice things which progressives maybe think are poison.
"Demonizing", "Quoting", "PoTAYto", "PoTAHto". Whatever.
I will for a second, take you at your word that you didn't say what so many have said you said, and instead, let the Facts will out.
So is it a fact that Dr. Ben Carson made the argument that being Gay was just like Bestiality? What exactly did he say?
Carson said that marriage is “a well-established, fundamental pillar of society and no group,be they gays, be they NAMBLA, be they people who believe in bestiality — it doesn't matter what they are, they don't get to change the definition. It's not anything that's against gays, it's against anyone who wants to change the pillars of society.”
And just so we're clear -
here's the video.
Ok, yeah, he didn't say anything about "Bestiality" or about "Nambla" - well, except, kinda. So is that is why he apologized so profusely for what he "didn't say"?
I love gay people. I love straight people,” Carson said on CNN's “The Situation Room.” “So this was really, I think, on my behalf, somewhat insensitive and I certainly apologize if I offended anyone, because I was not in any way comparing gays with people who engage in bestiality or sexual child abuse.”
Sure, except for saying that these were all (to paraphrase) "Groups who want to change marriage into something
not Godly". Yes, they were not compared, or made similar, or juxtaposed at all, except, y'know, being proponents of ungodly things.
And if this statement was because of something "on your behalf", Dr. - why or how are "Liberals Lying" about it? You said what you said, you know you did - the implications were clear and obvious - and you later said you simply were insensitive on how you expressed yourself and didn't mean, what it clearly sounded like what you meant. You said it, but simply didn't mean What. You. Said.
Right. It's not like English is you're native tongue or anything.
Fine. Let's then stipulate that you are far more likely an insensitive inarticulate clueless dumbass, than necessarily a bigoted asshole. So far. But I think the final jury decision is still out yet on that as we move on to issue number 2.
The Hitler Thing.
This happens to be one I've previously diaried about, so I have a bit of pre-knowledge on it.
Again, there is video. (Relevant bits start about 8:01)
The majority of Americans who have "common sense," meanwhile, are "afraid to speak out," Carson said, because "they will be targeted, they will be called names, they will be investigated by the IRS, and all kinds of unimaginable things will happen. "There comes a time when people with values simply have to stand up," he said. "Think about Nazi Germany. Most of those people did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But did they speak up? Did they stand up for what they believe in? They did not, and you saw what happened."
Ok, so fine, up to this point Carson is not saying that Obama and the IRS are like Hitler, only that people simply failed to speak out against Hitler and
somewhere, somehow, he can't seem to find anyone to speak out against Obama and his Not-Quite-Exactly-Hitler-ish IRS. (Has he tried looking in the audience of people he's talking to?) But ok, fine - facts show that in this statement Carson did not exactly say that Obama or the IRS or Progressives were "just like Hitler".
Right, that didn't come until his next sentence.
"And if you believe that same thing can't happen again, you're very wrong," Carson then added. "But we're not going to let it happen."
Let "what" happen again, Dr. Carson? What
exactly are you implying just might
"Happen Again"?
What kind of "Unimaginable" things just might "happen Again" if - as you suggest - people, again, are just not LOUD enough in opposition to it? Hm? Could it be, "Hitler?" Another Kristallnacht! (Gee, where have we heard that idea before, recently?) Or perhaps it would just be Hitler-Lite? With lots of Kristal, but not so much nacht!? Maybe - even though Carson didn't bring any of this up, but then again he did mention HITLER even if he clearly - again - really meant something else entirely - it was merely just a veiled oblique reference to Stalin, Or perhaps Pol Pot or maybe he really meant Slobodan Milosevic or Jim Jones or David Koresh or Heaven's Gate and not the massive strategic genocide of those who are ideologically (and or racially) inconvenient to the current Administration? It's not like Carson's massively narcissistic paranoid ideological allies just might be open to that kind of "Unimaginable" over-the-top rhetoric or anything. Nah, couldn't be.
Moving on to Statement #3, the "Obamacare is like Slavery" thing. Did Carson actually say that? Well, not according to this WashingtonPost Headline.
Ben Carson: Obamacare worst thing ‘since slavery’
See there, Ben Carson did not say that "ObamaCare is like Slavery" - you can see right there in the headline that he didn't say that. There's also video of this too.
So of course anyone that says that Dr. Ben Carson said that Obamacare "is like Slavery" is simply a dirty Liberal Liar, because obvious, and very clearly, he didn't say anything like that. Only that ObamaCare is the worse atrocity to befall the United States Since Slavery, not that they were in any way, shape or form "Alike".
And, also, this...
"You know Obamacare is really I think the worst thing that has happened in this nation since slavery," Carson, who is African American, said Friday in remarks at the Values Voter Summit in Washington. "And it is in a way, it is slavery in a way, because it is making all of us subservient to the government, and it was never about health care. It was about control."
Right, so, we've fully established now - with facts - that anyone who says that Ben Carson said Obamacare "is Slavery - in a way" - is big fat lying liar liar-puss. Even if that person is Dr. Ben Carson.
And also, we of course know that the analogy is perfectly valid since so many of those holding the slave whips, and applying the slave chains, and buying and selling human beings on the auction block, and tearing families apart and committing repeated acts of Rape and Murder for Centuries -- all of those people - clearly had "U.S. Government" stamped on their arm, didn't they? None of them were private citizens engaged in the free market in an exchange of unregulated goods and services. I mean, it's not like the U.S. Congress was Specifically Prohibited by the Constitution from Changing the Immigration Laws In regards to Slavery for 20 Years was it?
Because if there was evidence that the Government was banned from interferring in the Slave Trade for the first two decades of this nations existence, well, that would be a bit embarrassing wouldn't it?
Oh wait...
U.S Constitution Article 1 - Section 9 - Limits on Congress
The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight.
And in fact, Congress did not ban the importation of Slaves until
this clause expired in 1808, making the argument that "Government Caused Slavery" somewhat
Bass-Ackwards.
The Act Prohibiting Importation of Slaves of 1807 (2 Stat. 426, enacted March 2, 1807) is a United States federal law that stated that no new slaves were permitted to be imported into the United States. It took effect in 1808, the earliest date permitted by the United States Constitution.
Okey doke, maybe he was thinking possibly of the
Trail of Tears? Or the
Internment of U.S. Citizens who happen to be of Japanese extraction during WWII? Or perhaps he was thinking of the
Tuskegee Experiment? Or maybe
COINTELPRO? Or perhaps
IRAN/CONTRA? Or maybe Extraordinary Rendition, suspension of Habeas corpus or the
Presidential Sanction of Torture, Sexual Violence and the Coverup of Murders at Abu Ghraib, Illegal Black Site Prisons and Gitmo?
Nah, we all know the U.S. Government had nothing to do with any of that stuff, so let just keep flogging that Slavery thang, cuz what else is there?
In conclusion, what the Facts tell us, is that there is a Liar among us somewhere. That Liar would be anyone who says that the great and learned Dr. Ben Carson equated Gays to Pedophiles and Bestiality (except for this guy who said: "I'm Sorry - I was, on my behalf, somewhat insensitive") or that Obama's IRS was or is anything like Hitler (It can Happen AGAIN!) or that ObamaCare is ("...in a way, just like..") Slavery, because whoever that guy is he is IN FACT a giant, bold, bald-faced LIAR.
And don't any of us forget it.
