75 days ago, unemployment benefits expired. Breaking news: Senators have agreed they might have 60 votes to vote, if they wait another few weeks, on extending these benefits for such a short time period that if they started working on another extension today, and took another 75 days to pass it, this extension would already be expired by the time another extension passed.
The idea is this would be a 5 month extension, and would provide retroactive benefits back to the Dec 28th expiry.
Oh, and to try to include enough sludge to get the turd munching House to vote on this, the extension would be paid for in part by cutting federal pensions.

Maybe, if we 'need' a 'payfor'.... How about we raise the fucking FUTA cap on EMPLOYERS, which isn't indexed and hasn't been raised SINCE 1983? This is, after all, the purpose of that tax. The FUTA cap was equal to the FICA cap in the early days of the program, but is now imposed on only the first $7000 of income.
