Greg Abbott (R. TX) isn't the only GOP candidate turning to psychopath Ted Nugent for help:

Gubernatorial candidate Tom Tancredo has now e-mailed his third fundraising pitch from Ted Nugent, an NRA board member who called President Obama a “subhuman mongrel” and is offering a free AR-15 to a donor.
Other Republicans might be leery that Nugent is turning off Hispanic, women and black voters with some of his controversial, X-rated quotes, but not Tancredo.
But the congressman admitted he gets asked plenty about why someone like Nugent is making appeals for his campaign.
“Every time somebody asks me about it, I alway say, ‘The thing about Ted Nugent that I like is he has given me the ability to say something that I have hardly ever before uttered in my life and that is the following — ‘” Tancredo said, but couldn’t finish his sentence he was laughing so hard.
“He has given me the ability to say, ‘I wouldn’t go that far,’” Tancredo said, cracking up. - Denver Post, 3/17/14
But it really shouldn't surprise anyone that a nut job like Tancredo would welcome someone like Nugent to help out with his campaign:

But his vitriol has landed Nugent — and the candidates he supports — in hot water. After the “mongrel” comment went viral, critics condemned Nugent as a racist and even chastised Abbott for aligning himself with the rocker. Nugent later apologized. Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign faced similar criticism after Nugent invited the president to “suck on my machine gun” and declared he’d be either “dead or in jail” if voters chose Obama over Romney in 2012.
But the Tancredo campaign is embracing Nugent. His photo and a personal appeal for a donation appear alongside the gun raffle entry form.
“There’s a very good reason I’m supporting Tom Tancredo in his gubernatorial campaign,” Nugent says in the message. “Tom is relentless. As a congressman, he made waves in Washington by vehemently opposing … insane infringements to our sacred Second Amendment rights. Mark my words: we’ll keep our guns if Tom wins this race.”
As a member of Congress, Tancredo voted to reduce the firearm purchase waiting period from three days to one but supported legislation placing some restrictions on semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity ammunition clips. He has publicly denounced the gun control measures signed into law by incumbent Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper, who is seeking a second term. - ABC News, 3/17/14
If you'd like a taste of Nugent's insanity, here's a list of his top ten craziest quotes:

And gun raffles are the latest craze when it comes to fundraising for GOP candidates:
http://talkingpointsmemo.com/...
Gun raffles are becoming increasingly popular this election cycle. Rep. Paul Broun (R-GA), one of the top tier candidates in the Republican primary for Senate in Georgia, has raffled off a rifle in his campaign.
Tancredo, a staunch border hawk, has made some of the most outlandish arguments on immigration reform in the past. He once, for instance, cited Miami of the "third world country" the United States could resemble due to immigration. In June 2013, while arguing against immigration reform his response to a proposal by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and a number of other lawmakers (including Republicans) was simply "Who believes this sh*t?" He's also called Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor a member of the "Latino KKK." - TPM, 3/17/14
It's clear Tancredo wants that NRA money and having Nugent on is side will energize the gun loving nuts of the GOP base. That's why we can't afford to let him and the NRA try to take out Governor John Hickenlooper (D. CO). If you want to donate or get involved with his re-election, you can do so here:
