Rep. Mike Rogers, chair of the house intelligence committee and valiant defender of the NSA announced today that he is not running for another term and will instead become a broadcast pundit. The announcement seems to have come as a shock to the political establishment. People seem to have expected that he would be a house fixture for a long time to come.
So, what is this all about? I don't have an answer to that question. So far Googling hasn't produced any leads. It seems to me very plausible that there must be some kind of story behind this. Given his high profile position in such a sensitive and controversial policy area, it is easy to let one's imagination run rampant.
I'd be interested in knowing if anybody has picked up anymore information about this.
