The latest wisdoms as spouted by Karl Rove are simply his way of staying in the game. His attack against Hillary Clinton as having possible brain damage due to a fall that sidelined her for several months back in 2012, is ever-so transparent.
After his dreadful performance on the Fox News election night coverage and his equally abysmal record of backing losing candidates in the 2012 election cycle, he is now positioning himself to once again pitch for funds from well-heeled right-wing campaigns and their supporters. If he is not seen by conservatives as someone to be listened to, be given to, or even written about, what becomes of him? He is his own product. This product, that of being a high-priced political consultant and talking head, is damaged, needs a re-boot in order to get clients and re-gain influence in the GOP and the media in general.
If we aren’t talking about him, his cash flow and his reason for being ceases. I guess we are in a sense, playing into his strategy by throwing hissy-fits at his latest bomb-throwing screed. While a lot of people seem to believe whatever this operative has to say, if he has another bad election cycle, he may need to find another line of work. There are still a lot of ticked-off donors who are reticent and rightfully so, to give him their ears, let alone another dime. So, he is now throwing up test balloons to see what might play in the body politic.
The 2014 election season is geared up, with so many would-be clients for him to impart his brilliant expertise and he wants to be in the mix. Going after Hillary is a good way to put himself back on the front burner of public attention and that of fledgling conservative candidates. The business that is Karl Rove, Political Consultant Extraordinaire, has its shingle out. How many will flock to his doorstep?
