Recently Sequoia and I popped in at the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center to tickle the Starfish.
To meet the newest Octopus Velma and to meet the Blue Hippo Tang.
While the Blue Hippo Tang is quite shy and darts about it's aquarium, making it difficult to capture it in a focused photo....--->
...this beautiful Pink Starfish loves human attention and touch.
She attaches herself to the top side of the pool waiting to tickle human fingers with her tiny tentacles.
This orange Starfish loves human interaction as well.
Here the Orange Starfish appears to be reaching out to Sequoia.
The Sea Cucumber is one of my favorites.
While the Sea Cucumber looks thorny and dangerous to touch, it actually very soft. The spikes feel rubbery.
There are many animals living at the Science Center. All are local animals from our Bay in Newport.
Not the greatest photo. This Starfish was hanging out near one of the water filters. He felt like smooth wet leather.
This beautiful creature is the Bat Starfish. He is normally shy and hides in the back of the pool. For some reason he makes me think of jotter. Guess it is the name? ;D
Reaching out to me!
A Peppermint Shrimp. He was aggressive and chasing other fish around.
Sequoia's favorite. The Mandarinfish also known as the Mandarin Dragonet. It's this little beauty that the peppermint Shrimp was pursuing the most!
Bonus photos: McArthur II which is home ported at NOAA's Marine Operations Center - Pacific (MOP), in Newport, Oregon.
The iconic Yaquina Bay Bridge .
