Look, I know what's troubling you. And I understand it too—it's only natural to be concerned. But you shouldn't worry—
he's doing just fine:
"I don't think he's ever been more popular than he is today," said Spencer Zwick, who led a Romney campaign fundraising machine that raised more money than any Republican campaign in history.
He, of course, is Willard Mitt Romney, and the occasion for alerting the public to the more-than-satisfactory nature of his current condition is his annual confab for business and political elites in Park City, Utah. The price tag is $5,000 per head, and among other things ....
...the highlights will include a shotgun outing with Romney's 2012 vice presidential pick, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, mountain biking with Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, and golfing with Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.
Nice. Varmint shooting, mountain bike riding and golfing. What better way for Mitt to show off his newfound popularity, except maybe getting on the campaign trail?
Except:
Cedar Rapids, Ia. - Republican Joni Ernst is a "real Iowan" with experience as a military leader and state senator - and she'll serve Iowa better in the U.S. Senate than another lawyer, two-time presidential candidate Mitt Romney said today.
"If you're to take out a dictionary someday, my guess is you could look up 'Iowan' and you'd turn to the page and there'd be a picture of Joni Ernst," Romney told a pumped-up crowd of about 70 people at Cedar Rapids' Veterans Memorial Building this morning.
70 whole people? For an event that had been advertised for
more than a week? Well, I guess Mr. Zwick was right.
