I am a Virginian and no fan even in the slightest of Eric Cantor. I was even gleeful at his ouster yesterday. But today I had to wonder if the title of this diary typified at all what happened.
If you watched Robert Greewald's latest film on the Koch Bothers (Kohc Brother Exposed: 2014 Edition, it probably struck you as it did me that the Kochs are out to fulfill a vision of America (and perhaps the word) of their own--a privatized utopia which, after a while, seemed curiously devoid of people of color. One was prompted to wonder is it even possible that so many Koch industrial facilities, which output some manner of deadly toxin into the local environment, also happened to be pointed in the direction of rural and suburban black American neighborhoods. Much time was given in the documentary to showing the headstones of African Americans who died young of multiple cancers which rarely happen in nature to even one person much less this large a volume. Narrations were performed by persons of color, stopping frequently for a breath of oxygen from tank. The main female voice delivering some of the narration and partial eulogies of those claimed by the Kochs was suffering respiratory ailments abnormal for a woman that young, now sentenced to such a life of wheeling tanks of oxygen around.
Previously I had thought that the media wasn't helping when they instantly drew the hard conclusions that hate for President Obama has been THE singular reason for his political defeats and that the Republicans have, through the pledge/extortion scheme of Grover Norquist et al, simply dropped out of democracy and were determined to have their way one way or another. I thought it's too easy to shout racism and do nothing because racism is a complicated cultural target. But now having seen Greewald's film I find it very possible and even likely that the Kochs own the House of Representatives (and effectively the government) which Norquist and accomplices secured for them and because of that, it made it impossible for them to break ranks on any vote or point of order. Indeed that has been true but it is not because they are afraid of each other--they fear the wrath of the Koch hegemony who must have their way on everything
Since this leads back to an issue of white supremacists in the form of the Kochs having more money than anyone else, making $13M a day on top of that, new credence is given to the possibility that Barrack Obama is opposed at every turn because it's the standing order of the racist white supremacists Koch. And what other demographic do which supremacists seem to dig into with a vengeance? Jews.
The chronology which made the Kochs who they are was covered about the Koch's father working for Stalin in the post Cold war era to help the Soviets accelerate their ability to optimize the resource they were rich in but had no expertise on harnessing i.e. oil. Old man Koch came back from Russia with enough cash and expertise to start his own empire but also acted as a conduit from the old world to the new in exporting and importing antisemitism and race hatred. And the big difference here is that they don't just have perverse dreams that stay dreams and a day job to go back to to bay the bills like millions of imperfect beings, but their perverse dreams ARE their day job, their night job, their crusade, their agendas. And there are heartless self-serving minions in seemingly endless queues hoping if not ruthlessly competing for positions in the Koch hegemony doing whatever is called for. I will get to Eric Cantor in another sentence, but again, if you watched the film, you should have also noticed the design of Koch Industrial facilities all of which are signed off for on for on the smallest of details which in a way that sends toxic pollution into the air and water of neighborhoods and rural enclaves of people of color.
Much time in the film was spent showing the rows of headstones of black persons who died of multiple cancers unlikely to befall anyone unexposed to extremely toxic agents.
But this may have some correlation with the jaw-dropping occurrence which did not make sense even to leading pundits. Cantor IMO was politically dangerous--dangerous because not in the sense of violence or brutality but in the sense of being smart and skilled though allied with the wrong people. If the Koch Von Brothers wanted him in the House they could have easily used their clout to bury Brat. He could have been paid off, he could have been threatened, a number of other things bad could have happened to keep Cantor right where he was--lying with the greatest of ease for the gang that has replaced "your fathers republican party". But who comes out to primary votes and why are their so many on the right who are either threatened with being primaried or in actuality being primaried versus their political opposition?
Answers seem pretty obvious--money talks and they have more than we do, secondly this is the new tool of political extortion to create a "purist" right wing totality whilst the Democrats play by the ancient rules and the right has felt no consequence for their grievous sins (like undemocratic "totality pledges" against taxes as a condition to get donor support, not to mention the wars, and now last but not least the opportunity to quickly defrock even the loyal when his or her ethnicity or religion starts to become even a wit more than the richest white supremacists in the world decide they can take.
On the inclusive side of politics--the Democratic team, we still embrace making your own way without a "central scrutinizer(s)". There may be no truth to this whatsoever, but because Cantor is a Jew formerly of such high stature, it would have made sense to move heaven and earth to keep him there for political reasons i.e the Jewish vote in the mid-terms. As for me I'm delighted he gone. And I thank whatever dimwit who was on the republican switch who allowed him to get ousted like a loaf of last weeks rye bread. Just like the INAZ's I expect Cantors's replacement to be a big step in the stupid direction.
