President Obama continued
his visit to Minnesota on Friday with a campaign-style
speech taking square aim at Republicans for being more interested in suing him than actually moving forward on any policies that will actually help the country move forward.
They've said no to raising the minimum wage. They've said no to fair pay, some of them have even denied that there's a problem, that despite the fact that women are getting paid 77 cents for every dollar that a man's getting paid. They've said no to extending unemployment insurance for more than three million Americans who are out there every single day looking for a new job.
And why are they doing this? Because "they'll do anything to keep in place systems that really help folks at the top, but don't help you." The president also mocked House Speaker John Boehner's
plan to file a lawsuit against him:
They've decided they're going to sue me for doing my job. You know, I mean, I might have said in the heat of the moment, during one of these debates: 'I want to raise the minimum wage, so sue me when I do.'
But I didn't think they were going to take it literally.
This is definitely the fighting Obama, which is always the best kind of Obama. And he was just as pointed in
an interview with ABC News, saying that Boehner's suit—for which Boehner has yet to offer a legal rationale—was "a stunt," adding:
I'm not going to apologize for trying to do something while they're doing nothing.
Not to take anything away from the president here, but this lawsuit is such a fat pitch right over the middle of the plate it would almost have been an impeachable offense if he didn't knock it out of the park. But that doesn't make it any less enjoyable to watch.
