It's sunny in Seattle today. It's also sunny for adults who can walk into a store and
buy marijuana just like buying beer.
This law was approved by Washington State voters almost 20 months ago. Nothing
moves fast in this state except our football team.
This day reminds me of how it may have felt the first day it was okay to buy alcohol
again after all the years alcohol was illegal.
Marijuana has been the easiest drug to buy around here for years. You could
have it delivered to your house just like pizza. All of the folks who sold
"pot" then are depressed because they now compete with the state.
Few growers try to sneak the drug from Canada. It is so much easier to grow
it right here.
Marijuana has been around for thousands of years. It has many uses, Many kinds of
health issues can be helped by smoking, inhaling, or eating this plant. One deeply
religious 68 year old woman has used "pot' for years to help her bad health.
My young son has had a prescription for marijuana ever since it was legal. Many
stores had a green red cross sign on the front of the door.
Now the price will rise for folks who really need the drug. The amount of "pot"
is going to serve thousands more people. More will have to be produced.
I think sick people should be able to buy this drug if it helps them. Another drug
already on the street will have more folks who have no idea how to use it will
behind a wheel or do things they later will regret.
Don't believe folks who say this drug is not addictive. To some, it is the only
way to deal with life's problems. Many can use this drug and be fine but other's
can't.
The cough coming from my son's lungs are horrible. It's as if they are my age (over 60).
They have smoked the drug for over 20 years and are still in their 30's.
My hope is cigarette, alcohol, and all similar drugs will decline over time. It's always
been sad to me so many had to find something to alter their mind set.
I was addicted to alcohol, then sugar. Sugar is the hardest thing I have ever had to fight
to stay away from.
Washington state will collect a lot of money in taxes. I hope the number of new users
of marijuana does not go way up.
I learned a lesson late in my life that meditation, yoga, hard exercise, and running
will give you the best "high" any drug can give you. Feeling calm and mellow can
stay with you for hours after exercise. I know every person can't exercise and
marijuana is the only thing that helps, especially those with types of Cancer.
So here it is: marijuana is now legal to buy here. I don't think it's all that newsworthy.
I hope our state makes money but soon the thrill of using this drug goes way down.
The future of our planet needs all the clear thinking it can get. So many wasted
dollars on drugs. Most minds aren't wired like some brilliant folks who did great
things while stoned. Imagine what they could have done with a clear head!
Soon marijuana will be legal in most states.
The drug has always been here, some folks probably were afraid to buy it. I trust drug
charges are changing now. I hope some are let out of jail earlier.
and now I pray some fool doesn't hurt someone stoned. Alcohol already kills too
many.
