This is one of my newer poems that recently got published on Political Affairs. Wanted to share it with you all.
Still struggling to know my soul and express it in poetry
It is a great practice in “listening to the still, small voice of the Spirit.”
Sometimes I hear Whitman or Sandberg or Millay or Langston Hughes or Dylan Thomas or Ginsberg or dear sainted Angelou as they went to those same deep places.
Or Isaac Hayes writing "Try a Little Tenderness" or the rising Mississippi River anger of “Mannish Boy” by Muddy Waters rising from centuries of slavery and peonage.
