Diary is a bit on the brief side but I didn't see anyone else mention this yet. Also this comes via the New York Post's Page Six so as Rachael Maddow says, consider the source.
David Gregory's tie on Meet The Press is almost up
Granted the article states that he could be replaced after the November midterms. I would think it rather stunning that a show that had it ratings plummet 43% since taking over on 2008 would continue to keep him on. Names being thrown about have included Savannah Guthrie and Chuck Todd, who in my opinion would be almost the same corporate right leaning schill as Gregory and would make him an preferable replacement in the eyes of the bosses at Comcast.
This of course would also change not a damn thing. It's astounding that people choose to ignore the words of wisdom that those who don't learn history are condemned to repeat it. Have these people not realized the difference between now and then was Tim Russert? He was a rare breed of journalist. Hard hitting with a great understanding of the facts and only rarely would spin a story. You couldn't get that from Todd on a good day. As for Guthrie, I hope she would prove me wrong but I don't see any evidence that she could run MTP any better. All I've seen of her has been on the Today show, hardly a high mark for journalism. If she's done other work for NBC, I haven't seen it.
All I know is Gregory's a goner and good for us.
