The Supreme Court "justices" appointed by Republican administrations who voted in favor of unlimited campaign contributions have ruled that vast amounts of money contributed to political campaigns by corporations or wealthy persons are "political speech" and are therefore protected under the First Amendment.
In reality, what they voted for was the freedom of the voices of the wealthy to drown out the voices of the less wealthy. It is a vote for plutocracy and against democracy.
These "Justices" who voted for unlimited campaign contributions need, in my humble opinion, to be fired from their jobs through the process of impeachment. They are unjust. There was a movement to impeach Chief Justice Earl Warren. Needed now is a movement to impeach Chief Justice John Roberts, who has strayed far from the impartiality he promised during congressional hearings on his nomination.
Question to lawyers: does the public have standing to impeach ? Or are powers of impeachment confined to Congress ?
What I am advocating is a device to bring the subject of campaign contributions to front and center stage, to pillo dramatize
If theSE "JUSTICES" are allowed to remain in office, and if their numbers are increased by Republican administrations, they will further restrict women['s right to choose. They wiull further favor busines over workers. They do not vote in the interests of the majority of Americans. They are an abomination. They dserve to go.
Yes, this is an umeasured, shrill, loud attack. I strongly feel These guys (tghey are all male) need to be removed from a position where they have a malign influence on democracy and freedom in america.
I am not a constitutional scholar, and would appreciate if one of Daily Kos's legal experts would offer an opinion on this approach, and whether it might be viable, if properly framed.
