Police have shut down all pedestrian and vehicular traffic on 42nd and 9th. Central Manhattan is shut down. They have broken out the riot sticks. Things are going to to hell.

People are chanting "ARE WE BEING DETAINED, OR ARE WE FREE TO GO?"
7:51 PM PT: Commentator just said they're bringing in a bunch of boxes filled with zip ties to arrest people.
7:56 PM PT: Commentator just said they're going to arrest thousands of people. The police are yelling for people to get on the sidewalk with their hands up, but the people are already on the sidewalk. Now the commentator said there are hundreds of police and now people are starting to panic.
8:00 PM PT: Police will not let people leave. Protesters are yelling, "Somebody call 911! We're being held hostage!"
Commentator: "Hundreds of police are armed on horses."
Commentator: "They are about to arrest everyone. They bring you out in zip ties, then you go in the van to central processing and you get out in 8 hours."
Someone said the cop said they'll let the protestors out on the other side, but the commentator says they're lying.
Commentator: "The line of horse cops is not moving up the street. The train has gone completely off the tracks here."
Commentator: "They've arrested some people."
8:05 PM PT: Police: They're splitting people up and releasing them in groups.
Commentator: Still saying they're going to arrest people.
But the people around him are telling him "ain't nobody getting arrested."
8:11 PM PT: Jason Woody (sp?) from Occupy Wall Street was just arrested.
8:14 PM PT: Crowd begins to chant: "Greg Alexander was standing there doing nothing. He was just arrested because he's black."
They're letting people out, and picking and choosing who they arrest.
8:17 PM PT: Now crowd is chanting: LET US OUT!
Now more paddy wagons are pulling up.
Commentator: "Looks like we're goin' to jail! There are a dozen paddy wagons now."
8:20 PM PT: Police: "We're letting you go but if you come back to this location you will be arrested for disorderly conduct."
