So my wife has and Aunt and Uncle. The Uncle has Parkinsons and a few other health issues, mostly relating to skin cancer. He used to work for the Water district doing fieldwork in the 60's and 70's, and no one wore sunscreen. They live in St. Petersburg, Florida, but none of the other family does. As a result they want to and were ready to move up to where we live, Gainesville. My wife's family all lives near here, and they wanted to be closer to family. However they were told today that if they move, they have to cancel thier insurance and go through the whole thing again (and it took them 10 months to get thier insurance set up through the exchange)
Humana told them that since moving is a 'major life change' it all has to be canceled and redone, and they would be without any insurance during that time period. Obviously with my wifes Uncles health issues that's a non starter.
So now they are stuck.. they can't move
My question is this.. is this correct? Has anyone else run into this? It seems very very strange to me.
