I believe I’ve seen the statistic that the current ISIS bombing is costing 7.5 Million dollars per day. That’s $105 Million every 2 weeks. Where are the deficit scolds? I thought every penny the government spends needs to be offset somewhere? How is it that war money always seems to be free money? I suppose that only applies for dollars spent on the U.S. citizens, or domestic programs. Giving dollars to the MIC is free of charge and offset. If we expand the attack on ISIS, this daily number will certainly go up exponentially, so what then? Still all OK for our budget??
Here are a few lines out of the Veterans Admin. Budget:
Dollar in MILLIONS:
Medical and Prosthetic Research - 589
National Cemetery Administration - 257
General Administration - 322
Board of Veterans' Appeals - 94
Office of Inspector General - 121
Loan Administration Funds - 162
DoD Transfers for Joint Accounts – 162
So we exceed expenditure on these VA programs in just a few weeks of anti-ISIS activities. It was just a month, or so ago that the VA was a national issue. I guess, not so much. Making more veterans is so much more important.
Just today there’s an article in the WSJ that says the Saudis are all upset that we didn’t attack Syria a year ago, and that we’re not attacking ISIS fast enough now. Well excuse me, but aren’t some of their own citizens some of ISIS’s major funders/backers? Doesn’t Saudi Arabia have an air force and army? I seem to remember that they have a Whole lot of petro-dollars too. How about they take on Assad and ISIS if they have an issue in THEIR backyard? What are we, their security force? Same for the UAE, Jordan, and Turkey… Syria, and ISIS are their regional problem, we’ve already invested billions in Iraq’s security force, how about they provide…. Security.
I can think of a lot of places to spend 7.5 million dollars per day right here at home. If Exxon needs cops, and the Saudis need cops, let them pay for them!
And well, to hell with the MIC!
