GOP cuts funding request to fight Ebola
House Republicans indicated Tuesday that they will provide less than half of the White House's funding request to fight Ebola in the next government spending bill.
Obstructionists to the end.
Were'nt the GOP HOWLING about Obama bringing Ebola to Amurka just 2 weeks ago?
This is awesome evidence of the GOP doing ANYTHING to obstruct the President, while getting to put common Americans at risk.
More over the orange cloud.
CDC Director Thomas Frieden says the epidemic is spiraling out of control and needs immediate attention from lawmakers and officials around the world.
The death count in West Africa exceeded 2,000 people this week.
Yawn.
So far away. Poor black people. Who cares?
Actually, I think many members of the GOP cheer the presence of ebola and see it as their God's way of clearing the Earth for their Dominion.
THen there's this little thing at the bottom of the article:
The House is expected to vote on a stopgap government funding bill on Thursday. The measure would keep the government open through Dec. 11.
This is all just a distraction for the GOP as they prepare to take the government hostage again.
And check out how the New York Times Blog handles this issue:
House GOP to Include Ebola Aid in Short-Term Spending Bill
House Republicans will include additional funding in their short-term spending bill to help address the outbreak of Ebola in Africa, House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers (R., Ky.) told reporters Monday.
Mr. Rogers said he expected the House to vote this week on the stopgap measure to keep the government running beyond the end of the month. The legislation could be released as soon as Tuesday and will not include any new controversial policy measures, he said.
“We’re trying our best to keep this bill as clean as we can because we want to avoid a shutdown,” he said. House GOP leaders are still sorting out how to deal with the Sept. 30 expiration of the Export-Import Bank. Republicans have split over the federal agency, which helps support U.S. exports, but are expected to re-authorize it for a limited period of time.
Mr. Rogers said the stopgap spending bill would stick to overall spending limits set by a two-year budget deal reached in December. The additional funds for dealing with the Ebola outbreak will be offset by savings elsewhere, Mr. Rogers said, but declined to give specific funding levels. The White House had requested the Ebola funding.
These are horrible human beings.
We need to deal with Ebola, all they can think of is the next hostage-taking showdown.
