You know how you sometimes have a disagreement with someone because something they've said or done just doesn't sit well with you? And you know how you resolve these little bumps in the road by pulling a gun? You don't? Well, that's prolly because you're some kind of commie...unlike Mayor William Flanagan of Fall River, Mass.
According to The Boston Herald:
A Fall River city councilor is accusing Mayor William Flanagan of intimidating him with a gun during a bizarre midnight meeting over a recall petition — but the mayor claims he was just showing City Councilor Jasiel Carreia II how to protect himself, at the councilor’s request.
Flanagan is currently the target of a recall petition, which Carreia signed. Carreia claims that during the late-night meeting on Aug. 15, Flanagan was urging him to contact the Fall River Herald News to say he was bullied into signing the petition.
“Obviously when he took out a gun, the whole thing escalated,” Carreia told the Herald yesterday. “This is the mayor. I don’t know what he’s capable of. He didn’t forewarn me he had a gun. I thought, ‘This is ridiculous. This is crazy.’ There’s no doubt in my mind there was intimidation being used. No doubt.”
Carreia claims Flanagan pulled a gun out of the center console of the Ford Explorer he was sitting in and placed it on the dashboard, saying, “I never leave home without this.”
Mayor Quimby...erm, sorry...Flanagan denies the accusation.
Flanagan told the Herald that Carreia came to him saying he had signed the petition after being threatened, and alerted Carreia before taking the gun out of his waistband after Carreia expressed an interest in obtaining a license to carry his own firearm.
Uh-huh;
that sounds plausible. Carreia '...expressed an interest in obtaining a license to carry...' so Mayor Quim..er..Flanagan whipped out his own gun to show Carreia what a gun looked like and how to pull it out of your pants. Mayor Quim, er..Flanagan was just being
helpful. What a prince.
Carreia has not pressed charges against Flanagan, but the Fall River Herald News reported that Flanagan was put “on notice” regarding the allegations by Police Chief Daniel S. Racine and told to avoid contact with Carreia.
“We have this kind of case often,” Racine was quoted as saying. “But it’s usually not involving city councilors and mayors.”
Flanagan has been
scrutinized in the past for his relationship with Joe Ruggiero, identified in federal court documents obtained in Rhode Island as a member of the New England
La Cosa Nostra and an associate of the former mob boss 84-year-old Luigi “Baby Shacks” Manocchio.
Voters of Fall River, you've been warned: recall Mayor Quim, er...Flanagan and he might just come around to your place and explain the ins and outs of 2nd Amendment remedies.
