Hi everyone!
Just one final diary about the People's Climate March and our subsequent meetup. Lots of people blogging about the march now, you can check out our very own UN Climate Summit diaries, or the latest C!U!A! diary for more info.
IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO MARCH WITH THE DKOS GROUP:
NYC Kossacks Meet-up Location for The People’s Climate March -
The NYC Kossacks will be meeting at 69th Street and Central Park West. We will have a banner (and some will be wearing orange) so that you can identify us. Sidnora and joanbrooker will be there at 9:30 a.m. and we encourage anyone who wants to march with us to be there by 10:30 a.m. There are estimates of 100,000 plus marchers and if people arrive too late, it may be difficult to get through the crowds to our location.
Weekend travel around NYC can be challenging without a major event thrown into the mix. Please factor rerouting, blocked streets and subway shenanigans into your travel time!!
After the march you are invited to join us for a post-march meetup at our favorite haunt,
Spitzer's Corner, in the good ole Lower East Side of Manhattan.
Our RSVP list is hotting up, so please indicate in the comments or kosmail me if you intend to come to Spitzer's, and if you'll be bringing any guests. Not only will many of our NYC regulars be in attendance, we will also be joined by our very own
boatsie! Good times!!! Details below...
First, here is a lovely picture of a piece of our planet to get you inspired:
The meetup at Spitzer's will start at 5 pm after the march is over.
Date: Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014
Time: 5 pm - ???
Place: Spitzer's Corner
101 Rivington Street (corner of Ludlow)
Meet us in the back room. This venue is wheelchair accessible.
The best way to get to Spitzer's from 11th Ave is to walk east to 8th Ave. and 34th St and take the downtown A, C or E train to West 4th St. Transfer there for the downtown F train to Essex/Delancey St. More directions:
Directions by subway: J,M,Z,F to Essex St./Delancey Street Station.
If you're coming in from outside the city:
From Grand Central: take the downtown 6 train (6 stops) to Bleecker Street Station, walk downstairs to Broadway-Lafayette station, change for the downtown F train (2 stops) to Delancey Street Station.
From Penn Station: walk one block east to 34th St/Herald Square subway station, take F train (10 stops) to Delancey Street Station.
From Port Authority Bus Terminal: take the downtown A,C, or E train to West 4th Street Station (4 stops), walk downstairs and take the downtown F train (3 stops) to Delancey Street.
Any of these trips takes about 20-25 minutes.
If you are driving, there's a very inexpensive municipal lot a block or two away, on Delancey Street. Street parking is free on Sundays.
* Please be advised that subway schedules are subject to serious messing around on the weekends, with lots of trains either not running or being diverted due to all kinds of construction projects. You can get more or less up-to-date info here:

The 'Weekender' app is available from the website for mobile devices and is a great tool!
ALL ARE WELCOME!!!
Even if you can't make the march, we'd love to see you at the meetup! Check out joanbrooker's fabulous photo diary if you need to be tempted by food pr0n : ).
Okay, I think that's about everything. RSVP in the comments or send me a kosmail. Include your personal email in the kosmail if you want to be added to the NYC meetup mailing list.
See you there!! : )
