Andrew Cuomo and Kathy Hochul, standing up for Republicans everywhere.
Damn, I wish we could've taken out Working Families Party Lieuntant Governor nominee Kathy Hochul in the Democratic primary.
.@KathyHochul also not ready to back Panepinto for #nysenate. She says Cuomo's warmth toward GOP is bc he's governing
— @JimmyVielkind
For context, NY Working Families Party (and Democratic) Gov. Andrew Cuomo fought hard for a Republican-controlled Senate. He signed an aggressive gerrymander giving them control of the chamber when they can barely get 1/3rd of the state's popular vote for Republican presidential or gubernatorial candidates. And when the Democrats screwed up Cuomo's plans by actually winning control of the chamber anyway, he worked with renegade corrupt Democrats to keep the chamber in GOP hands.
He ultimately scored the WFP endorsement by promising to stop doing all that "love my Senate Republicans" bs, but of course, he hasn't. Now, he's acting undecided about endorsing Democrat Mark Panepinto in a district that President Barack Obama won 56-42, because, you know, governing requires "warmth" toward a party that is essentially fringe in the state.
But no surprise coming from Hochul, who bragged about voting against Obamacare dozens of times, was an NRA devotee, and voted with Republicans in the House to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt. (One of just 17 conservadems to do so.)
You know how you govern? You get majorities. Cuomo isn't interested in governing. He's interested in furthering his future ambitions, and if his calculations require an obstructionist GOP-controlled Senate, well then, that's what he'll focus on. And Hochul will cheer him along the entire way. Heck, they're probably trying to punish Panepinto because he's pledged to fight for Democratic control of the Senate.
We, on the other hand, are cheering for Mark Panepinto, part of our slate of great New York candidates pledged to restore Democratic control to the state Senate. Give $3 to Panepinto to show Cuomo and Hochul that governing in a majority Democratic state has nothing to do with showing "warmness" to Republicans.
