A brief update to the Philly hate crime situation that many of you have been following. Today, Philadelphia Magazine released the mugshots of the three suspects arrested for their leading roles in the anti-gay assault that took place on the evening of September 11th.
Though the crowd numbered around 15 individuals, only three were charged. They are two men and one woman:
26-year-old Kevin Harrigan of Warrington
24-year-old Kathryn Knott of Southampton
24-year-old Philip Williams of Warminster
News has come out that Kathryn's father is a Chief of Police of Chalfont, PA. Our very own Scott Wooledge has uncovered damaging evidence against Kathryn.
This may be sensitive for some individuals, so be warned.
Writing for Storify.com, Scott just wrote an article that details Kathryn Knott's excessive homophobia and overall immaturity via posts made by her to her Twitter account.
Kathryn's account, which is still active and unblocked (though she hasn't posted there in about a year), includes many terrible statements, including:
In addition, Kathryn also wrote Tweets defaming taxi cab drivers that, from all accounts, were likely Middle Eastern.
Please click over to Scott's article on Storify to read all of her Tweets. She posts more about excessively drinking (which, to be honest, as a late-20s individual is not really infrequent. What can I say other than my fellow Millennials...).
But what still is bad is Kathryn tweeting x-rays of patients (link to Reddit page, not the actual x-rays), which could violate HIPAA if that patient can be identified.
Oh, and this final charmer. Kathryn once Tweeted about special status she may have received due to her father being Police Chief.
Another update. Don't like to use BuzzFeed as a news source, but they have new information, so here it is. Kathryn Knott indeed worked at a medical provider named Abington Health, which the provider confirmed. She has been suspended from her job. The article also states that Kathryn posted another medical photo, this time of two dismembered fingers (yes, you read that correctly!) that seem to have been amputated from a patient.
Abington Health's statement:
“We can confirm that Kathryn Knott has been employed at Lansdale Hospital since May 2011. Because of the nature of the charges against her, she has been suspended from her job as an Emergency Room tech.
We are investigating an additional issue that was brought to our attention related to this employee’s Twitter account for potential violations of patient privacy and our organization’s social media policy. Abington Health takes patient privacy and confidentiality very seriously and is fully investigating this matter.”
All in all, this is the circumstantial evidence that prosecutors dream of.
