Received this e-mail from State Senator Vincent Sheheen's (D. SC) gubernatorial campaign regarding Governor Nikki Haley (R. SC) and South Carolina teachers:
Last night, Governor Haley gave the annual South Carolina State of the State address. We heard a lot of the same old rhetoric, but what we didn’t hear was any accountability for the things that have gone terribly wrong under her administration or real vision for where we are going as a state.
She talked about education, but she ignored the importance of having great teachers in the classroom to ensure our children succeed.
That is not surprising. In her first three years as governor, Nikki Haley’s veto pen has hit education harder than anything else. She has even vetoed teacher pay raises. That’s just wrong.
This year, I’ve been proud to introduce a bill that will raise our hardworking teachers' pay to the national average.
It’s time to give teachers their due. Add your name to our petition and let's send a clear message to Governor Haley that we know what matters to our state. Click here to sign>>

Our teachers spend countless hours making sure our children grow up to be well-educated and ready for the world. They deserve to be paid like the dedicated professionals they are. If you agree, add your name to our online petition and tell Nikki Haley that South Carolina’s teachers and students deserve better.
